Collector
The Borough Tax Collector is responsible for the collection of Real Estate
and Per Capita Taxes. The Tax Collector is elected for a four-year term
to collect these taxes for the Borough of Fountain Hill. Ms.
Diane Allen, 1433 Sioux Street, was elected in 2006 to serve another
4 year term which ends in 2010. Ms. Allen may be reached at 610-866-1678

Tax Office Hours:
Due to a decision by the Bethlehem Area School District in 2007 to have
Berkheimer Associates collect their Real Estate and Per Capita Taxes for
2008/2009 Tax Year, Office Hours for the year will be as follows:
3/31/08 - 6/30/08 Hours: Tuesdays & Wednesdays 6-8 pm, Thursdays
6-7:30 pm.
7/1/08 - 12/31/08 Hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-7:30 pm.
Office Closing Dates: 6/12, 7/29-7/31, 10/16 all legal holidays and as
necessary for tax meetings.
The Borough has appointed BERKHEIMER for the collection of other Taxes
(Earned Income, Business Privilege and Mercantile, Emergency Municipal
Service(Renamed Local Service Tax). (See Chapter
24 of the Code of Ordinances) Questions concerning these taxes should

TAX SITTING
Berkheimer Associates expects to mail the Local Earned Income Tax (EIT)
Returns sometime in January. If you do not receive one, please call Berkheimer
at 610-599-3139, or stop by Borough Hall to pick up a return. Tax Sitting
Day is scheduled for April 7, 2008 from Noon to 1:00 p.m. A representative
from Berkheimer will be available at Borough Hall, 941 Long Street, to
answer any questions about your local EIT return. Please check with your
employer to make sure that your 1% withholding is sent to Fountain Hill
(Berkheimer) rather than the City of Bethlehem. Employers often use the
zip code to determine where to send the money. Fountain Hill Zip Code
is a Bethlehem zip code (18015). Make sure that your employer knows that
you live in Fountain Hill, and not the City of Bethlehem. Keep your taxes
in our Borough.
NEW EMERGENCY MUNICIPAL SERVICE TAX (EMST)
Act 7 of 2007 amended Act 511 to rename the Emergency Municipal Service
Tax and enact a new Local Service Tax. This new tax of $52 is levied on
all individuals who engage in an occupation in the Borough of Fountain
Hill. Those who make less than $12,000 per year are exempted from the
Tax. The revenue derived from the tax will be used for police, fire and
emergency services and for road improvement and maintenance.

Allen – Tax Collector Borough of Fountain Hill
I am a borough resident for 25 years. I live with my husband John, daughter
Rachel and son Jack. I was deputy tax collector from 7/03 until 2/04 at
which time I was voted in by Borough Council to complete the remainder
of the term as the interim tax collector. I was voted into a new 4 year
term in November of 2005.
I am a graduate of Cedar Crest College with a Bachelor's degree in Business
Management. Prior to becoming a tax collector, I have held positions in
project management, accounting and office administration.
