Public Works
The Department of Public Works is responsible for the improvements and repairs of the Borough 23 miles of roads. Its responsibilities are complex and diverse. The Department has 4 full time employees (Laborers), in addition to a Full Time Supervisor. Other functions of the department is removal of snow, leaf collection, maintaining the parks and ballfields, playground, swimming pool, maintenance of borough buildings and grounds, sanitary sewer and storm sewer lines, pumping station, traffic signs and traffic signals, banners and other community tasks. Supervisor August “Gus” Entler, Jr. Laborers Harry Fritchman In 2006, NIMARIS, Inc. from Bath, PA was awarded the paving contract for $166,000. The following streets were completed:

If approved by Council, property owners will be notified of improvements to be undertaken as far as curbs and sidewalks. Property owners will be required to pay for the improvements per Borough Engineer's recommendations. CURB RAMP PROJECT The Borough received another Grant in the amount of $19,000 from the
County of Lehigh FY 2006 CDBG Program in order to construct handicap ramps
at various corners. It is anticipated that these funds will be used towards
the 2007 Paving Project. |
